Dolphins are certainly some of the most graceful yet adorable animals ever. But as it turns out, that is not all there is to these aquatic mammals. They are also very intelligent and compassionate as they showed such incredible qualities when a group of dolphins saved a drowning dog!
Turbo, an 11-year-old Doberman, fell into the canal on Marco Island, Florida and unluckily for him, there were no humans around to rescue him. In fact, nobody even knew that he had fallen into the canal and it started to look like all odds were against him. Fortunately for the poor dog, a group of dolphins showed up to save him.
The group of dolphins noticed Turbo flailing around in the water and swam closer to investigate. They instantly knew that something the poor dog in distress needed help immediately. The dog was stuck in the canal and the wall that separated the water from the land was too high for the pooch to climb up.
With no hands or legs, it was pretty difficult for the dolphins to physically help out Turbo but they discovered another way to rescue him, to call out for help and quickly went into action.
The dolphins swam around the area and made very loud noises. This quickly caught the attention of people who were close-by.
“In fact, they made so much noise that some people who lived nearby happened to hear them and investigated why they were being so loud, then they noticed the dog trapped below the wall in the canal water.” Snackay wrote.
According to the Huffington Post Turbo’s owner, Cindy Burnett, said her doberman had been missing for more than 15 hours when neighbors heard a loud splashing in a nearby canal.
Neighbors called in a rescue team to save the poor drowning dog. Firemen quickly rushed to the scene to help out and managed to pull out the dog from the canal safely.
Although he was okay, the dog was quite shaken up about the entire experience. The firefighters determined that the dog had been stuck for nearly 15 hours, a very long time to keep swimming, especially if you are not a sea animal. Had it not been for the group of dolphins and their incredible intelligence, Turbo probably wouldn’t have survived.
