Lana used to live in the streets of Brazil with her brothers before she was rescued at the end of last year. She knows better than anyone, just  how much of a difference a little kindness and generosity can make in life. Shortly after being rescued, this little dog was adopted by Suelen Schaumloeffel and her fiancé. So she began a new life as a truly beloved pet. However, despite all the love and affection she received from her new family, Lana clearly did not forget the days she lived in the street, hungry, thirsty, cold and lacking in love.

Lana’s new mom got the little dog a warmer blanket, so she would not be cold at night since temperatures had dropped a great deal in their area. Little did the woman know that her 8-month-old dog was blessed with with the biggest heart there is. After putting Lana to sleep in her new blanket one night, the dog did the most wonderful thing and opted to share  her warm and comfortable blanket with a new friend that was sleeping alone in the cold outside the fence of her home.

The next day when Schaumloeffel was leaving for work, she came across the most beautiful sight in the world. Lana had dragged the blanket over to share it with another puppy that apparently lived in the street.

Schaumloeffel said it was the first time she was seeing the other dog. She was not sure if it was an abandoned dog, however, when she approached him to see if he had any identification, the canine ran away. Schaumloeffel said,  “I thought, how beautiful what she did for her friend. My four-legged best friend reminded me of something so important: generosity!”

Since then, the couple have occasionally seen the new dog but he always runs away with fear. They hope to be able to approach him, to help him find his way home if he is lost. Every day they give him food and fresh water, so he does not lack anything. After all, that’s what her friend,Lana, would do if she could. “She’s the most beautiful dog I’ve ever met. We sometimes forget the difference we can make in a life. She reminds me of that.” says Schaumloeffel.
